What will Apple reveal at ‘Glowtime’ on September 9?

The short link for this post is https://dadbase.co/gyyi

Although it never says explicitly what viewers can expect to see, September is iPhone month.

The above image is only speculative, but rumours suggest we can expect the regular iPhone 16 to have its cameras vertically aligned for stereoscopic image capture (for the Vision Pro), along with a bronze-like colour for the iPhone 16 Pro.

That means you can be sure we’ll see four new iPhone models on September 9: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Max, iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max.

Don’t expect a new iPhone Mini. The last version, part of the iPhone 13 series, continued to be available through the lifetime of the iPhone 14 – but disappeared from the line-up when the iPhone 15 was announced, with no replacement in sight.

All the things ending in OS

As usual, Apple is also likely to announce public release dates for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2 – all of which have been available in some form of beta release for a few months now.

Apple Intelligence (urgh, Apple has claimed ‘AI’ for itself) will also debut with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 Sequoia. In the case of iOS, you’ll need at least an iPhone 15 Pro to access Apple Intelligence, while the lowest-spec Mac that will run the ChatGPT-powered AI system will be those powered by the M1 chip released in late 2020.

Apple Watch 10 – and Watch Ultra 3?

We’ll likely also see the annual Apple Watch hardware update revealed as the Watch Series 10, which will reportedly be thinner than its predecessor, and yet have a larger screen – so it’ll be interesting to see how the battery life goes with a package like that.

A Watch Ultra 3 is not expected, but a black version of the current Watch Ultra 2 is supposedly on the roster.

AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3?

Reports suggest we might also see new AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3 – and given what a popular Christmas gift they’ve become, it’s an obvious thing to add to the big reveal list for September 9.

There isn’t much to know on that one, but according to Bloomberg’s regular news breaker Mark Gurman, the regular models will get Active Noise Cancellation – despite not having the silicon tips that usually help to make ANC work so well.

Gurman has also posted today that he’s expecting new AirPods Max at the event, which would be welcomed by any Apple users riding the USB-C upgrade train. Maybe they’ll even have a proper case this time.

All I want is a second generation of the excellent Beats Fit Pro

🔼 New computers?

Probably not, as these are usually announced in October rather than crowding out the iPhone event. But, if Gurman is correct above, that October event will bring new Macs with M4 chips – likely with a 10-core CPU, just like the latest iPad Pro that already rocks an M4. An extra-compact new Mac Mini is also rumoured.

Whether Apple will finally move on from 8gb as its minimum RAM offering… remains to be seen, but with the advent of memory-intensive Apple Intelligence, we could finally see every Mac kick off with at least 16gb of RAM.
