Thanks to the brand’s 50th birthday shenanigans, you can now rock the Oakley O through the new Ellipse sunglasses.

Oakley’s 50th birthday party just got a bit weirder — in a good way.
Their new Ellipse sunglasses are literally shaped like the brand’s iconic “O” logo, and while that might sound like a gimmick, the result is… oddly wearable.
These aren’t your average retro throwbacks or recycled styles from the archives (even though I do prefer those options). They’re sculptural, futuristic, and unmistakably Oakley. Equal parts fashion experiment and functional gear.
They might look like something a cyborg would wear on a weekend hike, but the Ellipse isn’t all show. The frames use Oakley’s PhysioMorphic Geometry to hug the face, while lightweight materials and the brand’s signature grippy Unobtainium bits promise they’ll stay put even if you’re sweating it out in the sun.

They’re also equipped with Oakley’s Prizm lenses, boosting contrast and colour clarity in everything from city glare to bush trails (depending on the option you go for).
The 50th anniversary edition features seven colourways, including the wild “50 Midas Fleck” with gold-tinted lenses. It’s very Oakley: bold, functional, and a little bit mad.
Whether you’d actually wear them is another story — but you’ve got to give them points for trying something this out there.

Full disclosure: When I was a kid in Australia, I assumed Oakley was an Aussie brand, because there’s a suburb in Melbourne called Oakleigh – but I didn’t know it wasn’t spelled Oakley, or that the existence of a suburb is no evidence of a brand being local. I’ve said too much.
How much then?
I couldn’t find these on the Australian site for Oakley, but Just Sunnies has them listed for A$365. That’s their ‘Our Price’ price, but for now… who knows if it’s cheaper or pricier than retail?
