The new FX horror series, Alien: Earth, will hit Disney+ on August 12.
The first full trailer for Alien: Earth, FX’s prequel to the original Alien film, looks ready to brew chaos right here on our home planet.
The story kicks off on Earth with a look at what the Weyland Yutani mob are up to with synthetic humans, when suddenly a mysterious spaceship crashes, sparking curiosity and some suitably shitty decisions.
Leading the charge is Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler), whose mind now resides in a synthetic body, basically making her the perfect person to check out a possibly alien-infested vessel. How convenient!

She’s joined by her synthetic mentor, Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant), and a team that quickly discovers the ship’s past passengers weren’t exactly friendly.
The trailer hints at classic Alien vibes with the computer designs from the first film, dim corridors, eerie silence, and the ominous feeling that something awful is about to jump out.
We don’t get a good look at the creatures, but the tone is tense and the production design feels right. Also, Olyphant looks rad with the white hair.
What can we expect from the writing?
The show is being run by Noah Hawley, whose credits include the Emmy-winning Fargo series, the very whacky Legion series, and Bones before that. So, there’s cause for hope – but he also wrote and directed the cinematic flop Lucy in the Sky. So… we’ll see.
Alien: Earth drops on August 12.
