This is one of those moments where my general anger and fear in the face of AI is overcome, almost involuntarily, by the vibe. They got me, damn it.
I can’t help it. As a man in his mid 40s, seeing these almost perfect portrayals of the childhood I remember (well, a somewhat American televisionified version) is filling me with feelings.
The creator of the @PurestNostalgia page, Josh, says he creates these images for his own satisfaction rather than as any attempt to fool people.
“And every time I post, I’m just trying to make you feel something too. Even if it’s just for a second — a flicker of emotion you didn’t expect to feel while scrolling your phone,” he says.
“I’m not trying to build a brand. I’m just someone who misses a time when things felt a little more human — and I want to create a space for people who feel the same.”
