Skoda’s latest concept goes retro with a modern twist, reimagining the Czech brand’s 1987 Favorit hatchback.

Designed primarily by Ljudmil Slavov, who clocked 120 hours of his own time on the project, this isn’t just a retro throwback—it’s a thoughtful blend of old-school charm and future-forward design.
While Skoda’s latest EVs all sport a sharp and modern look has led the brand to solid sales growth over the past 20 years, this reborn Favorit follows Volkswagen’s nostalgic ID Every1 concept with a similar ’80s-inspired style.
The new Favorit concept addresses modern tastes in the way it leans more towards a crossover, sporting a taller body than the usual hatches we grew up with. Slavov says the taller design also “allows for better battery placement in the floor”.

It pays homage to the original Favorit with familiar lines and bonnet strakes, but adds modern flair with features like a shared door handle scoop for both front and rear doors, slim LED lighting, and an offset badge.
For fans of the original Favorit (whoever you may be…) and newcomers alike, this concept offers a tantalising glimpse into what affordable, stylish EVs could look like.
There are no technical details for the concept, but the original Favorit was powered by a piddly 46kW 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a five-speed manual and a front-wheel-drive configuration.
Will the new Skoda Favorit be available to buy?
Skoda hasn’t indicated any plans to bring this new Favorit to market, so if you’re going to get your hopes up, you’d better focus on that ID Every1 concept instead.
The ID Every1 is set to enter production in 2027 (likely with some styling changes), and VW says it’s aiming for a price tag starting from around 20,000 euros ($23k USD / $35k AUD).
