“Because there’s no going back.”
Well, this has all taken far too long, but here it is: we finally have a new Tron movie, following 2010’s criminally underrated Tron: Legacy.
As far as I know, there isn’t much known about the specifics of the plot yet, and this first teaser trailer sure doesn’t give away much. (‘Teaser’ and all that…)
From what I’ve read, this is more of a reboot sequel to the first film rather than a sequel to Tron Legacy – which makes sense, since we hear the voice of Jeff Bridges in the teaser, but there’s no sign of Legacy stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde. And, just quietly, that sucks.

The development timeline for this film doesn’t seem to bode well either, really. It was 2022 when new star Jared Leto confirmed the film was happening, 2023 when there was a director swap, and June 2023 before there was confirmation of a draft of a script, and literally only a year ago that Gillian Anderson was added to the cast.
Granted, the film doesn’t hit screens until October this year, but I dunno… doesn’t that all feel like a weirdly contracted timeline?
On the plus side – new NIN music! Will it top Daft Punk’s soundtrack? We’ll see!
