This is Dad to Ground Control, I’m gonna need these new moonboots.

I’ve always liked Reeboks, but I must admit it’s been a while since I’ve thought about owning a pair of them. These new NASA-Inspired BB4K2 high-tops, however, might just be the Space Age throwback I didn’t know I needed.
Forming part of a broader Reebok SS24 NASA collection, the BB4K2 transforms the classic basketball shoe into a surprisingly legit-looking space boot, complete with the unmistakable NASA logo emblazoned on the spongy tongue.
That design though! They’re really quite convincing. I mean, if we don’t see these in any of next year’s sci-fi blockbusters, I’ll be shocked.

Reebok says the BB4K2 takes inspiration not only from NASA, but also its earlier icons – and because I’m no sneakerhead, that’s a bunch of editions I’d never heard of: like the Alien Stomper (yep, a tribute to the Alien movies), BB4000, and 1989’s Commitment.
The goal, of course, was to create a retro-futuristic basketball sneaker that looks like it stepped right out of a 1980s NASA mission. Mission accomplished? I’d say so.
Out here in 2024, Reebok says the BB4K2s have “the vintage vibe of a garage sale find”, and I think that’s probably what I like about them the most.
My favourite detail, though, is probably the way the soles have been painted to look as though they’ve still got fine moondust particles pressed into the textured rubber. Outstanding.

The BB4K2 goes on sale on March 31, but so far they’re not listed on Reebok’s Australian website and you might not be able to load the US website without a VPN.
Luckily I’ve got a 49%-off discount code for an ExpressVPN subscription… 😉 Godspeed, fellas!

But wait, there’s more!
Reebok’s NASA collection doesn’t stop at the BB4K2. For those who love a good space-themed sneaker, there are other gems like the vintage-style Classic Leather Hexalite and the effortlessly cool Club C sneaker, which features a zipper “lace” system. It’s all right here.
