Summer Game Fest was streamed on Friday, but at two hours long, it took this dad a while to get to it. Now, here are my fave announcements!
Firstly, if you wanna watch the whole thing, the full 3h25m stream (including the Day of the Devs segment with cool indie dev teams) is above.
Or, if you want a full list of separate vids, Euro Gamer have a solid piece here. Maybe get the kids to bed first…
I’m not a big gamer, admittedly, but I love the art and design aspects of modern games. So, below, I’ve listed the games I most like the look of and would play if I had the time, energy, and coordination. 😂
Atomic Heart II
I never played the first Atomic Heart, but here we get a wild retrofuturistic world that will supposedly “raise the bar for what an open-world action RPG can do”. I might even give this one a go, because it looks incredible.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion
This looks fun. Side-scrolling beat-em-ups are definitely my jam, and especially when they have this ’90s look to them. Tribute Games do a brilliant job with this formula. Shredder’s Revenge is brilliant fun, and the new Scott Pilgrim game looks a treat too. (See that one further down.)
Scott Pilgrim EX
I’ll be throwing down with Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers in an all-new beat-’em-up that jumps through space, time, and the streets of Toronto. It’s set to launch in 2026 on PC and consoles.
Felt That: Boxing
“This meat ain’t gonna beat itself!” – That’s the kinda comedy you can expect in this Hensonesque game with a very, very adults-only vibe.
ARC Raiders
This game was apparently announced a few years ago and is only just now getting close to release. It’s the first I’ve heard of it (told you I’m no gamer!), but it looks incredible. These sprawling sci-fi games are my kinda concept.
Nicktoons and The Dice of Destiny
This looks like one I’ll have a ball playing with Mr 9. Nowhere near enough gameplay in this trailer, though.
Jurassic World Evolution 3
Hell yes. I didn’t even know there was a Jurassic World Evolution 1 or 2, but regardless, this looks ace. I haven’t watched any of the World movies, but I reckon I’d definitely get down with this game.
Mixtape
Looks like this is set in the early ’90s? Count me in, champs. And it’s made in Melbourne! I wish it were set in Melbourne, but we all know the ’80s and ’90s happened entirely in midwestern American towns.
Infinitesimals
I don’t really understand what’s happening in this trailer, but it looks like a hoot. A universe of advanced creature warfare in my front lawn? Okay!
Sword of the Sea
Another bizarre concept, surfing through all sorts of environments on a magical flying sword. Because why not? I’m into it. This’ll be on PS5 and Steam in August.
Dosa Divas
This looks like some sort of food-obsessed RPG focus on groups of ladies battling through their food businesses, and there’s at least one foodtruck-looking mecha battle suit. So, yeah, count me in.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault
I love the style of this. I’ll definitely be picking this game up.
Ratatan
The art style in this is awesome! I’m not super sure it’s the kind of game for me, but I do love the aesthetic.
Tire Boy
Literally a tire boy, roamin’ around solving environmental troubles and battling creatures. I’m sorry, you can’t convince me these devs aren’t high as fuck. 😂 This looks really fun, though.
