Marvel v Ca… Marvel? Let’s go.
There’s a new Marvel fighting game coming and, wildly, it’s not made by Capcom.
This new one, titled Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls and revealed today in its initial Japanese form, is the work of Arc System Works, the team responsible for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue.
Launching next year on PS5 and PC, Fighting Souls is a 4v4 tag-team fighter, but Arc say they’ve simplified the experience.

”Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters,” game director and lead battle designer Kazuto Sekine says.
“But for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you only need to master one character in order to play the game. We have designed the mechanics in such a way that you can perform a variety of actions with either traditional fighting game inputs or simple inputs.
“With the press of a few buttons, multiple characters can appear on screen to provide backup or attack together – creating a new and exciting team VS battle experience.”

Characters revealed for the game include Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Storm, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Ghost Rider.

Me, I’ve only got an XBox and a Switch, but uuhh I might need to do something about that. Mind you, I succck at fighting games. Real button masher over here. Yep, I said it.
As for Tōkon, it means ‘fighting spirit’ in Japanese – so don’t be surprised if the Western launch just runs with Marvel: Fighting Souls or Fighting Spirit.
Because, as one dude on some shitty website put it…
