Wacom launches three new Cintiq displays

Where my designer dads at?

Wacom Cintiq 16

Back in my full-time design and illustration days, my life revolved around my A3-sized Wacom Intuos tablet. It was big, bulky, and brilliant. The things I accomplished… good times.

For a long time now, the company has been offering Cintiq (‘sintick’) displays that you can draw directly onto, like an iPad or Android tablet but with Wacom’s own vaunted touch and stylus tech. (Even Samsung’s S Pen uses Wacom tech!)

Now the company has a refreshed Cintiq line-up, looking slimmer, lighter, and sharper than ever.

The new Cintiq 16, Cintiq 24, and Cintiq 24 Touch pen displays rock a sleeker design with thinner bezels and reduced weight, making them a bit more backpack-friendly for creatives on the move.

All three models are now compatible with the excellent Pro Pen 3, which brings 8192 pressure levels, tilt support, programmable buttons, and a buttery 12ms response time. No battery needed, either—just plug in and go.

The displays offer 2.5K resolution (that’s 2560 x 1600 for the 16-inch and 2560 x 1440 for the 23.8-inch), a 60Hz refresh rate, and anti-glare glass that mimics the feel of drawing on paper.

Ports-wise, we get USB-C, HDMI, and USB-A, although the Cintiq 16 only needs a single USB-C for both display and power.

Wacom Cintiq 24

Rudely, only the Cintiq 24 Touch has touch controls, but if you go for that option, you’ll have the ability to zoom, pan and rotate with your fingers – along with the freedom to create gestures using up to 10 fingers. (I assume you’re stuck with 10 or less, like the rest of us…)

Prices start at A$1199 (US $699.95) for the Cintiq 16, A$2299 (US $1299) for the Cintiq 24, and A$2599 (US $1499) for the Cintiq 24 Touch. They’ll be available later this Aussie winter.

Those Aussie prices are actually a few hundred bucks more than the official US prices listed in parentheses, so you can assume some annoying local markups have been applied. (Although there could be some import/customs fees there that Wacom has chosen to pass on to buyers.)

Check them out on the Wacom website here.

👇 Although not one of these new models, here’s a great timelapse video of an artist working on the existing Cintiq 27.
