My sausage fingers are thanking me, and my bank account probably is too.

I absolutely don’t need Casio’s Ring Watch, and it’d never be anything more for me than a trinket on my shelf or a pendant on a necklace, but alas I lament.
As Victoria Song from The Verge put it:
It just looks cool. The Casio Ring Watch is the sort of dweeby chic that reminds me of childhood: before puberty and the consuming need to fit in, when wearing Disney princess tiaras and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles watches was legitimately cool. You’d wear your nerd gear to the playground, and a random kid who liked the same stuff would suddenly become your best friend.
That’s… exactly how I feel. I love this thing in the same way I love my old Game Boy watch. It’s nerdy, and that’s me.
Priced from $120 USD / $250 AUD, the CRW001-1 is/was a limited-edition item celebrating Casio’s 50th anniversary, and it was only ever offered in limited quantities – although I don’t think Casio ever confirmed exactly how many were made.
Australia recently had 17 units “reallocated” (probably returns from fellow fat-fingered folks), all of which have now been sold, by lottery.

Casio’s Australian team posted the below on their blog recently:
The enthusiasm for the CASIO Ring Watch was undeniable, with over 12,000 people entering our lottery for the chance to purchase one of the 17 reallocated units. This extraordinary demand highlights why the product sold out in less than 15 seconds—it wasn’t just the small number of illegitimate orders, but the overwhelming number of customers who truly wanted to own this iconic piece.
Globally, the CASIO Ring Watch sold out instantly in every market, reflecting the incredible passion and enthusiasm of our customers. We’re deeply grateful for your support, which has made this historic CASIO launch such an unforgettable moment.
