Did that pun work? I think it was good, but not as good as this Omni-Directional Ball-Wheeled Bike.
My word, this might just be the coolest thing I’ve ever, ever seen on YouTube.
The bike’s creator, James Bruton, says: “This bike balanced like a Segway sideways, and drives in all directions, which makes it the ultimate drift bike! I used five ODrive brushless motors driving omni-directional wheels, running on large plastic balls which are intended for circus acts to balance on. Active control keeps it upright and twist grips are used to drive and steer.”
And of course, the fact that it’s red means I can’t stop seeing Kaneda’s bike from Akira!
“So yeah, this seems to be alright!” 😂 I love how casual this guy is with his genius, like it’s the most natural thing in the world to all of us. He’s clearly having a ball! (Yeah you see what I did there.)
I love this bike so much. I figure he’d save the balls from popping out by building a circular frame that extends down below the curve of the wheels, effectively closing them in – but there’s every chance I’m speaking well beyond my smarts there!
